Pesach
One of the most important holidays of the Jewish calendar,
and one of the oldest continuously performed ceremonies in
the world, Pesach, or Passover, commemorates the escape of
the Jews from slavery in Egypt.
Pesach literally means "to pass through" or to "be
passed over". It is both a serious occasion and a festive
holiday for Jews as they retell the story of Exodus.
Passover is traditionally observed with a seder, a ceremonial
meal during which participants read from the Hagaddah, a
collection of texts, prayers, and commentaries, and eat symbolic
foods.
